In Chinese herbalism there are a few superstars: ginseng, reishi, cordyceps, deer antler, and astragalus to name a few. I regard a few supplements equally as worthy of superstar status. I'd like to focus on one in particular due to it's importance in health maintenance (and I'm almost sure you've never heard of it.) It's called Ai/E10.
Ai/E10 is derived from milk, yet does not contain any milk protein or lactose because it is highly filtered. It contains a number of immune molecules that make your immune system smarter. Let me explain the difference between this and every other plant-based immune system supplement on the market.
Because Ai/E10 derives from an animal source, it contains molecules not found in plants. Plants don't have as sophisticated of an immune system as we do, so taking plants like mushrooms and echinacea can't actually make your immune system smarter, they can only make it stronger. Here's an analogy: Say you want to shoot something so you trade in your hand gun for a machine gun. If it were nighttime, the more powerful gun isn't necessarily going to help you hit a target. (Ever heard of a “stealth infection”?) Adding a night vision scope would be the better choice.
Humans and (and the cows from which Ai/E10 is derived) have this thing called an adaptive immune system, which plants don't have. It involves a lot of cell-to-cell communication which can become weakened by stress, toxins, infections, or nutritional gaps. Plants and nutrients can't repair damaged cells in this network, but Ai/E10 can by replacing them. Similarly, if you loose a lot of blood, you'll need a transfusion. Taking Ai/E10 is like a transfusion for your immune system. You wouldn't advise a victim of a gunshot wound to start taking iron so he could build more blood. It would be too slow. Ai/E10 is first aid for your immune system, so I strongly advise my patients to keep some on hand for when it's needed and to take 1 or 2 capsules daily to keep the defenses strong. Remember, all infections are essentially opportunistic. They can't survive in a fully functioning, strong immune system.
I'm not discounting herbs like echinacea, which can prove really valuable as well. If you knew you were getting sick and wanted to stop the infection right away, by all means take an appropriate dosage and you just might spare yourself a nasty cold. (The only product I recommend for this, btw, is Gaia's Quick Defense, which is very reliable.) The better strategy to keep from getting sick in the first place would be to take an immune modulator like Ai/E10 on a regular basis, especially if you have a weak immune system. It it fine to take Ai/E10 along with herbs like echinacea as there are no known contradictions or interactions. (Ask your doctor if you are nursing or pregnant.)
It can be a little tricky to find. Don't expect to find it at your local store. I happy to connect you with a resource if you need one.
"Dig the well before you are thirsty" – Chinese proverb
Drugs are being prescribed to patients in staggering numbers by their doctors and for minor aches and pains, people are often choosing themselves to take drugs like Aleve and Advil. These drugs belong to a class of medicines known as NSAIDs or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. These drugs can have serious side effects, so it's worth considering some alternatives.
Recently a study was released linking NSAIDs to atrial fibrillation, a serious heart problem that can lead to stroke and heart failure. Users who had used NSAIDs within the previous month were 1.8 times more likely to have atrial fibrillation, though the association does not prove that these drugs were the actual cause. Regular users of these drugs can encounter other problems such as stomach ulcers (five-fold risk increase), erecticle dysfunction, and kidney problems. NSAIDS (other than aspirin) were already associated with an increase risk of heart attack and stroke before this new study.
So what are some alternatives? In Chinese medicine, it's important to gather all the details before prescribing herbs, as pain can have many different causes and require very different treatments. Still, it's worth mentioning some simple solutions.
The first alternative to consider is fish oil. In one study, patients with neck and back pain took a total of 1200-2400 mg. daily of Omega-3's (EPA and DHA) which resulted in an overall decrease in pain in 60% of users. One reason why inflammation is so high in today's society is the introduction of cooking oils such as soybean oil which are high in Omega-6. Our balance of fatty acids have been thrown way off due to all the processed foods in our diet and one way to bring them into balance is to supplement with Omega-3's. Relief occurs over a period of time, so this is not something you could pop like an aspirin to feel better.
The second alternative worth mentioning is Turmeric. This yellow wonder has received a lot of press lately and is reported to possess anti-inflammatory properties capable of treating arthritis pain and offer a slew of other benefits. An overview presented in Advanced Experimental Medical Biology states that Curcumin (a component in Turmeric) “has been shown to exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, and anticancer activities and thus has a potential against various malignant diseases, diabetes, allergies, arthritis, Alzheimer's disease and other chronic illnesses." Look for brands with enhanced absorption such as Meriva as the substance is normally hard to absorb.
I was delighted recently to discover a fast-acting pain reliever with a good side effect and no ill effects. It's called Pain Guard Forte (available only through health professionals) which contains a special bioflavonoid called quercetin. Two small pills cuts my pain in half for hours so I can get on with my work. As for the good side effect, quercetin is a known allergy fighter, and I haven't had a runny nose sine I started taking it 3 weeks ago. Definitely beats having an ulcer!
An incredibly simple strategy to decrease pain levels is to increase your water intake. Dehydration can hamper proper circulation and slow down healing time. Don't wait until you're thirsty to drink water. Thirst is a sign that dehydration has already set in.
Exercising to your level of tolerance also increases circulation, and proper muscle tone can help prevent injuries and muscle strain from occurring. Regular Meditation is also a proven pain killer.

The lungs occupy a very important region of the body, the chest, and surround the most sacred of all bodily regions, the heart. The heart chakra is where we give and receive Love with other people and nature. In etheric anatomy, this space is also the location of the soul matrix. The soul matrix in this case is like computer hardware and not the soul described as the part of you that is said to follow you in the next life. The soul matrix is the interface between spirit and body. (Think of a modem that picks up and transmits an internet signal.) This is where your soul light shines from (or doesn't). The condition of your soul matrix determines how much of your spiritual essence can be felt, by you and others. A person with a damaged soul matrix due to abuse or other reasons may feel empty inside or “depressed”. Now on to the lungs.
The lungs are critical to the functioning of the heart chakra. When we process emotionally with healers we are often asked to take deep breaths. This illustrates the lung-heart relationship. We say things like “breathe it in” when we intend to take things into our etheric heart. When we are afraid, we do just the opposite- we hold our breath. This is an attempt to protect the core of our being which can become vulnerable around harmful situations or energies. It's not by accident that the lungs, heart chakra, and soul matrix occupy the same area. Think of the lungs as the wings of the heart. Let me explain this.
Proper posture enables the Lungs to work at full capacity. (Just try taking a deep breath while slouching and you'll see what I mean.) People suffering from depression and low self-esteem are often in a cowering position. Superman and other heroes are always shown with a straight spine and outward facing chest. Think of Ironman's shining light in the center of his chest which is also the source of his strength and power. That glow is a lot like how our soul matrix radiates our light into the physical world. As long as the breath is moving fully we are taking life in, unafraid and unguarded. Prolonged holding of the breath, improper posture, and lung problems may indicate fear, improper boundaries, or low self-esteem. A few examples are: thinking we have nothing to offer the world or not being “enough”, fear of loosing something, or feeling the need for protection. In these states our wings become folded instead of spread out. Interestingly enough, in Chinese medicine, the lungs are ascribed the function of “letting go” and processing grief. Cigarette smoking is said to impair emotional processing and, of course, restricts lung function. You see people turning to tobacco during difficult times and it could be because (subconsciously) they are choosing to not process their emotions. When smokers quit they often become angry and unsettled as all their repressed feelings come rising to the surface.
In connecting body and higher medicine, lung issues should be worked on both physically and spiritually. The body medicine that is connected to feeling protected and having proper boundaries is Wu Wei Zi/Fructus Schisandra Chinensis. The body medicine connected with self-esteem and confidence is Mai Men Dong/Radix Ophiopogonis. Both of these ingredients can be found in a formula called Golden Air. Seen through the eyes of Higher Medicine, the body is simply a barometer for the spirit. When both are addressed healing can take place on a more profound level bringing body, mind, and spirit together.
I studied to become a psychic back in 1997 with the late Amorah Quan Yin by making numerous trips to Oregon and Mt. Shasta which were more like retreats. The final training I undertook lasted nearly a month and covered hands-on body work like Ka channel opening. (Ka channels ground the energy from your higher-dimensional self into your 3rd dimensional body allowing you to merge with your Higher-Self.)
Of all the gifts one can receive in this life, opening your psychic channels is potentially one of the greatest, in my opinion. (More on that later.) This gift, however, comes with a price of being misunderstood and a little isolated from the rest of society.
To this day I still struggle with my title. Intuitive counselor/medical intuitive/clairvoyant or any other name you can think of never seems quite right to me. All these names are too vague and only hint at what I do, or worse, cause confusion or misunderstanding. Who still remembers Miss Cleo and the Psychic Friends Network? 10 years ago I could hardly mention being a psychic without a person giving me their best Jamaican accented impression of her. This immediately, of course, reduced my skills to a mere joke. Thankfully these days Miss Cleo has nearly been forgotten, but after coming out of the psychic closet to someone I almost always hear “Oh, really? What kind of vibes are you getting from me right now?” or “So you can see auras?” or some type of request for an immediate demonstration. If not that it's a "hmm" or a look or remark that let's me know I've encountered a non-believer.
Simply put, being a psychic means being sensitive, perhaps a transducer, or a medium, for all the unseen energies that surround us and are within us. I believe, as did my teacher, that these abilities are inherent and natural to everyone, but we usually don't take the time to develop them. A healer such as myself is someone who knows what to do with these energies or has the ability to transform, remove, or pull in energy as appropriate.
Many psychics can tell you all sorts of things about you and your history, but is that really useful to you? Maybe, but not inherently. Certainly, it's entertaining and people love hearing about themselves. The goal of my work is to help a person remember why they came here and free them from the distractions that take them off their path. Of course the information given in a reading might be rejected if a person doesn't want to hear it or isn't ready for it.
For example, I've worked with many people who are in relationships that aren't working and despite having pointed out the reasons why, they choose to remain in it until it becomes so painful they can no longer stand it. A person's need to feel loved is almost invariably stronger than logic.
The training I received is part of a modern-day mystery school. Developing clairvoyant skills was a preliminary step in the attainment of enlightenment, not the goal. I always conduct my sessions with the intention of having my client become a little more enlightened then before our session, but this only works when they want they same for themselves. Enlightenment is a DIY type of job. I'm just there to hold a flashlight while they do the real work.
Society is becoming more health conscious every day. People are choosing to eat more organic and non-GMO foods, regularly taking yoga classes, and a few are using meditation for its remarkable health benefits. Why is it then so many of us are obese and overweight? In the last study that was conducted, more than 69% of Americans were. And the toll on our health and economy is tremendous. Abdominal obesity is linked to heart disease, diabetes type 2, arthritis, and higher levels of inflammation.
Metabolism, fat storage, and food cravings is very complex picture. One reason why most diets fail is because “weight loss” is not the same as fat loss. Typically calorie restriction (combined with various supplements) results in the loss of a combination of water, muscle, and fat. Results are far more meaningful when they are measured in terms of body composition, or percentage of body fat change. Water lost can easily be regained and muscle loss will impair your body’s ability to burn calories in the future.
Diet, exercise, and stress levels effect gene expression favorably or negatively. Understanding the 20,000 genes of the human genome has been the subject of private and public research for decades, and the science is now bearing fruit.
One company has recently unveiled a program to change body composition without inducing muscle loss. It specifically targets genes related to fat storage and metabolism. Initial users have achieved a reduction of 15-25% body fat with no loss of lean muscle mass (or an increase of it up to 15%).
The system is at least a year away from being widely available and is currently being evaluated in a long-term study. Limited batches of product have already been sold in China and Europe and sold out almost immediately. The U.S. launch on October 15 is expected to sell out in approximately 45 minutes! If you would like more information on the system, call (619) 694-6318 to schedule your complementary consultation. The ability to buy product is by invitation only and requires a special code.
I once heard an analogy that made a lot of sense to me: “People are not depressed because of lack of Prozac in their brains.” I think a lot of people struggle with their health issues due to a myriad of factors, but they are not sick due to a lack of needles in their body. Hear me out. In my time as an acupuncturist, I have seen the power firsthand what a pack of needles properly applied to the body can do. I have taken away headaches and migraines from daily sufferers. I have relieved nagging shoulder pain in the elderly. I have made excruciating back pain much better after a one-hour session. I would like to clarify in this article what acupuncture does, and why it may not be enough to make you healthy.
Acupuncturists commonly explain that they can restore health by balancing the energy of the body. First they identify the areas of the body that have stuck "Qi", then they use needling and other methods to unblock this flow of invisible energy which is responsible for maintaining health. No wonder people are skeptical of acupuncture! It makes acupuncture sound scientifically baseless!
"Energy" was never a good translation for the word "Qi". "Qi" in the context of acupuncture is best translated as "oxygen" (which is carried by the blood). People's health improves with acupuncture sessions because it opens up circulation in a specific way, releases chemical messengers related to pain, and delivers oxygen and nutrients to the target area. This a very physical phenomena and not the energy medicine it's often sold as. It works very well for pain management and other conditions, but it can't fix everything. It is so important to consider the many factors that enter into one's health equation. Below are three major reasons why I see patients fail to reach the level of health they are striving for.
1. lifestyle choices that create high rates of oxidation combined with poor nutrition. Examples are: weekend smokers, daily tokers, heavy drinkers, people who don't manage their stress, people who don't eat enough fruits and vegetables, people who take supplements that are of poor quality and think they have it covered. People consuming strict diets such as vegan, raw food, low-calorie, and those on a detox plan which can render them nutrient deficient.
Do this instead: Stop trashing your body with intoxicants and foods that contain poisons and are of low nutritional value. Fast foods are the prime example. Focus on eating a variety of Organic fruits and vegetables on a daily basis and compliment this with antioxidant-rich foods such as goji berries and Chinese herbs such as Astragalus and Reishi. Take supplements that are of the highest quality and proven scientifically to have high absorption such as such as Pharmanex LifePak Nano and G3. Do not embark on extreme diets or cleanses without medical supervision.
2. Genetic mutations are impairing the normal processes of the body. Have you taken every pill imaginable and still feel terrible? The problem may actually be genetic. It has been proposed that 45% of people have at least one gene defect that impairs enzymatic function which can lead to almost countless health problems.
Where to start: Get tested for MTHFR (which is covered by insurance or about $150 without) and work with somebody knowledgeable that can help you.
3. Emotional suffering. People are often very proactive when it comes to their physical health, but willing to do much less to ameliorate their emotional suffering. Our tendency is to just live with it. Many people are living in deep emotional conflict by staying in jobs they don't like, holding onto erroneous and limiting belief systems, living for others, and not following their dreams. Your emotional state has a direct bearing on your health and too often people see their health problems as “physical” alone. Has some of your nagging health problems seemingly disappeared while you were on vacation? There's a clue that some changes are needed.
Get to the root of your suffering by seeking the help of a qualified spiritual counselor or therapist. There is little shame in seeking a doctor's advice when we have a sore throat or badly injured knee, but when we suffer emotionally we tend to let it go on for years. As a society, we are constantly putting too much focus on the physical and on outward appearances. Change also has to come from within!
The biggest challenge I face as a practitioner is trying to help others who have trouble being good stewards of their own health. This is partly due to a lack of knowledge but it's also due to not connecting certain lifestyle choices with overall health and expecting others to make us healthy with a handful of pills, a chiropractic adjustment, or lying down with needles once a week. These are all great when administered wisely, but they are best used in conjunction with healthy lifestyle choices and practices which nurture our spiritual well-being.
I am happy to be a guide on your journey to health, whether it be for spiritual counseling, herbal consultation, or putting together a superior supplement program. Call for an appointment or free initial consultation.

I've been asked what it is I am using to make my skin look younger, so I decided to write a brief article to explains what I'm using. First of all, I'm an anti-aging fanatic. I've been on this kick since I was in my 20's. For years I've been taking Chinese herbs that are known for their rejuvenating effects such as He Shou Wu, Ginseng, and Lycium. I drink Kangen water religiously, meditate daily, get regular exercise and am careful with my eating habits. After 41, however, I was finding it more difficult to hide my age. What started becoming more noticeable was that my skin was starting to sag and my deep lines were getting deeper. Herbs and skin care could impart clarity and luster, but darn it, my skin was slowly starting to slide off my cheek bones!
I decided to give the new and improved True Face Essence Ultra (TFEU) a try. It is a targeted treatment for skin firmness. The key ingredient in TFEU is Ethocyn, a patented, unique molecule capable of returning your elastin levels to that of someone in their 20's, even if you are 75 years old!. Elastin is a protein that gives skin its firmness and “snap back” ability. In a third-party clinical study, users had boosted their elastin levels by and average of 166% after 12 weeks. This was confirmed by skin biopsies.
The product has an incredible success rate. 55% of study participants saw noticeable results after only one week's usage and a third reported looking 3-7 years younger. After 12 weeks, 80% saw an improvement in skin firmness and 15% said their skin looked 10+ years younger. The effects I have achieved have been with TFEU, the ageLOC Cleanse and Tone, and True Face Line Corrector used with the Galvanic Spa. (I continue with my regular moisturizers day and night as usual.) So far I am pleased with the results, and I've only been using it for about 3 weeks. Every few days my face looks a little firmer. You can see below what I'm referring to.
Often one application can make a noticeable difference, as the video below demonstrates. Call me to set up a demonstration and consultation. Be well!

Karma is Sanskrit for “action”. This includes all actions of body, speech, and mind. The sum total of these countless actions give rise to effects in our lives, whether they be “good” or “bad” things (at least that's how they appear to the mind). It is important to realize that in this definition of karma, there is no punisher, or some supreme being deciding that someone deserves bad things on account of their past actions. You simply reap what you sow. There are different definitions of karma given in various religions and traditions. I don't claim to have the final word on the subject, but opening a discussion about how it relates to our spiritual path can be useful.
To me, a person is creating negative karma when their actions are out of alignment with highest truth. Throughout our lives we develop ideas about ourselves and others that are illusory. We may see ourselves as undeserving, abandoned, neglected, and so forth. Acting from this place, we may easily become attached to people who show even the slightest kindness towards us. Our attachment may feel “sticky” or needy, and drive people away from us, causing us yet again to feel abandoned and unworthy. For years we may caught in the same cycle, creating the same effects, and this only serves to deepen our limiting and painful beliefs. This is a perfect example of what I call karma.
Sometimes during a Spiritual Cleansing and Activation session, I see karma that is ready to be cleared from a person's akashic records. When karma shows up in a the akashic records, it indicates that the pattern is deeply ingrained and may have roots in a previous lifetime. In order to clear that karma, the supporting erroneous belief systems must be dealt with and any contracts the person has that is holding them back. Once all this is done, the karma is ready to be cleared by Divine Order. This is what I call Karma Cleansing. Clearing karma that has persisted for years, if not lifetimes, can be very freeing and open us up to new possibilities in our lives and greater peace.
Fibromyalgia is a little-understood syndrome which causes chronic, widespread muscle and joint tenderness and often involves a constellation of maladies including anxiety, fatigue, irritable bowel syndrome, insomnia, and depression. Fibromyalgia is one of many conditions for which conventional medicine has no good explanation for and consequently current treatment consists of drugs which have been approved to treat the symptoms of pain and/or depression that often accompanies the syndrome. One of the most debilitating aspects of fibromyalgia is enduring fatigue and currently there are no FDA approved treatments for this symptom. Many sufferers are left on disability or partial disability while they struggle to get through the day. Below are are my top 3 recommendations for fibromyalgia-related fatigue.
1. D-Ribose is a naturally occurring sugar in the body and a vital component of ATP, the body's fuel source at the cellular level. It can provide a boost of energy within a few days and users with fibromyalgia report a lifting of brain fog which is great. What's not so great: Being pure sugar, the substance is capable of feeding candida and other opportunistic infections in immune compromised individuals, so it is not appropriate for everyone.
2. Malic acid and Magnesium, often found together in supplements, can help the body produce ATP more efficiently and users find that they have less muscle soreness. Drawbacks: none.
3. AgeLoc Vitality can boost the number and activity of mitochondria inside your cells which is the site of ATP manufacture. Vitality can also lift brain fog and increase physical endurance. Users also report a decrease in muscle soreness. Cons: Occasionally produces short-term insomnia in individuals due to its brain-awakening effects. This tends to level out over time.
Note: Fatigue can have many causes including hidden infection, poor functioning of the adrenal glands, side effects of medication, and mental illness such as depression. Energy solutions are best discussed with a qualified health practitioner.
